How It Works
I often get asked:
"How does Life Coaching work?"
To put it simply, each meeting is a question
and answer session.
Unlike any other kind of session you may have
experienced, you are the total focus of the
conversation and set the agenda for each session.
My only purpose is to help you to clearly
define what it is that want to achieve,
whether it's in your personal, professional
or public life, and then support you through
the quest of achieving your goals, helping to
keep you on track and overcome the challenges
and obstacles that may appear on route.
These meetings can take place either on the
telephone, or face-to-face
I have also had it said to me:
"I might just as well talk to a friend/family
member!"
This may true in some instances however, there
are times when you do not want your
friends/family/work colleagues to know what the
challenge is. Also, in a coaching session I am
not judgemental, i.e. I do not look at how you
have been in the past, I just look at where you
are now and am fully supportive of what you
want achieve.
During the first session we talk about what
you want to achieve through coaching, and then
each session after that is geared towards you
achieving your goal.
One of the reasons that coaching works so well
is there is accountability involved. In effect,
you tell me what you want to achieve between
each session and at the next session we take
a look at how you got on.
I know this sound's a bit like school, but if,
for example, you do not achieve what you wanted,
we take a look at and deal with what stopped
you and reset the goal.
During the series of sessions you and your
success take priority. I am there to support
and encourage without giving advice.
Honesty and integrity are the two most vital
ingredients during a coaching relationship.
The best results are gained when nothing is
held back or glossed over.
There will be sessions that you feel were a
waste of time, but these are all part of the
journey of achieving your goal. Like a roller
coaster ride, you have to go down occasionally
to be able to rise again.
The good news is that over time the downs will
get shallower and the ups will get higher.
Just enjoy the journey.
